At pen point
This exhibition summarizes the work of a group of graphic humor artists who, through the publications Xel2 and Matraca, have systematically made the Cuban reality visible, with its deepest contrasts, deficiencies and, above all, the fight for democracy, rights and freedom in Cuba.
The caricatures of these artists allow hundreds of citizens to hear the echo of their own voice vibrating in drawings and illustrations, in jokes and cartoons. The force they gain from their messages has inevitably made them the target of the repressive machinery, which lacks the resources to counter the power of satirical messages. That is why, in their general attack against all free expression, the repressive apparatus of the Cuban State persecutes graphic humorists.
At pen point is a tribute to the work of Cuban graphic humorists and a denouncement of their persecution.
